First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

Category:Triana District[edit]

Hi Filpo. I don't understand this change, what are you trying to do? There's only one district called Triana, but within Triana District there are 3 neighbourhoods which contain Triana: Triana Casco Antiguo, Triana Este and Triana Oeste, as you can see in the following links:

El famoso barrio de Triana en Sevilla es un distrito de la capital, por lo que es una subcategoría de Districts of Seville. Creo correcto la categorización Geography of Seville - Districts of Seville - Triana (Seville). Queda diferenciado de la categoría Triana, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Sí, pero no hay que diferenciar el distrito del barrio o barrios de Triana, por lo que el nombre "Triana District" es necesario. Si quieres puedes crear una categoría para los barrios oficiales: Triana Casco Antiguo, Triana Este y Triana Oeste. Son los que el ayuntamiento reconoce oficialmente. Olivenza[edit]

Buenas tardes Jl FilpoC. Me he percatado que hace unos años en la categoría de Olivenza retiraste, de forma totalmente comprensible, algunas categorías fuera de lugar y que cierto usuario te revirtió en varias ocasiones. Decirte que creo que tenías toda la razón. El caso es que son varios los usuarios a lo largo de los años los que han chocado contra el mismo muro, un único usuario que ha tomado posesión de la categoría como si fuera su feudo particular. Y que además roza el ridículo al integrar Olivenza en la región del Alentejo y le da rango de municipio luso. Yo he estado categorizando imágenes de la citada categoría (que estaba muy abandonada), al tiempo que he puesto orden en el tema de las categorías no puede ser que un usuario tenga secuestrado esto como si fuera su cortijo personal. Deje de etiquetar imágenes como "trabajo propio" a menos que en realidad sean su propio trabajo. Tomar una fotografía del trabajo de otra persona no lo convierte en tu trabajo. Buenos días: No entiendo el aviso. Todas mis fotografías las capto con mi máquina y no utilizo las fotografías de otro. Entiendo por "trabajo propio" que la fotografía es captada y procesada por mi. Si tomo una fotografía de un dibujo que hiciste, ¿se convierte inmediatamente en mi imagen? (No es asi.) Las fotografías de estatuas son diferentes. 100 personas podrían tomar 100 fotografías diferentes de 1 estatua desde 100 ángulos diferentes, y todas serían muy, muy diferentes.
